The Best Alternative Music for East Anglia and Beyond!

2024 in Review

As we reach the end of 2024 it seems a good time to look back on all we've achieved over the last few months.

Eastern Alternative Radio began in August as one man and has since grown into a thriving independent radio station with a dedicated team of presenters producing excellent content week in, week out. We've been proud to showcase so many great independent artists that have reached out to us and will be continuing to do this as long as we are around. We'd like to extend huge thanks to everyone that has sent in music to be played on air, anyone who has helped promote the station in any way and of course, each and every listener.

We have seen presenters come and go over the first five months of broadcasting, with each of them bringing their own unique identity to the station. Looking to 2025, we will again be expanding our line up of shows with new presenters joining the team, as well as expanding the scope of our output, with shows on history, the paranormal and non-league football all coming soon. We will also be adding more ways to listen to us, with alexa access coming early 2025 as well as adding the station to more radio directories.

Another exciting development for 2025 will be our upcoming live events in Ipswich. Showcasing E.A.R DJs and local live bands, we plan to organise around 4 such events in 2025. Keep an eye on our social media and blog for updates on specific details as they emerge.

It was brought to our attention recently that E.A.R is in fact available on many internet radio enabled physical radio sets, which retail from anywhere between around £60 and £300. This is great news and something we will be looking to build on throughout the year. Internet radio currently makes up just under a quarter of the overall radio audience, so there are plenty more listeners to be reached. As ever, if you would like to bring your skills to the E.A.R team in order to help us achieve our goals of bringing quality independent media to as many people as possible, then please do get in touch. We remain commited to ad-free, algorithm free alternative music listening and engaging, entertaining and/or informative non-music content and are always looking for fresh material. Any idea is worth pitching if you think there is an audience for it! Except for nazis. This isn't Joe Rogan, after all.

We were especially pleased to be able to bring Liam Gregory's excellent science fiction audio drama Centromika to our Sunday evening line up, with series 1 running throughout December. We will repeat the series, but if you'd like to hear it all in your own time, it is available across the usual sources. https://shows.acast.com/6503300d05106400125ebd67
